RTV SLOVENIA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Establishment of RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra goes all the way back into 1955. More than 60 years later, we can definitely say that orchestra had left an irredeemable trace in Slovenian music and is considered as the most important ensemble among all Slovenian musical ensembles. It's wide and interesting concert programme attracts diverse audience, while it's repertoire consists of worldwide known music from all eras. In past few years orchestra enjoyed even wider fame by mixturing classical and popular music and therefore recorded almost all symphony repertoire, which has been prize-winning and highly renowned. It's domestic and international discographies are outstanding in many ways and also very extensive – recordings can therefore be found on more than 400 CD's. RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra regurarly performs in musical culture capitals all over Europe and collaborates with many prestigious and professional musicians. More that 50 members of RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra will therefore be accompanying legendary tenor José Carreras on his last performance in Slovenia.
SPECIAL GUEST: JAN PLESTENJAK
Great comeback of the most popular and most successful slovenian musician, Jan Plestenjak, awaits only a few months after he completely sold out Arena Stožice. He will perform as a special guest of José Carreras, after legendary tenor personally invited him to join him on the biggest stage in Slovenia. ''I've been invited by great José Carreras to join him on stage of Arena Stožice, as his guest,'' told Plestenjak, who is very well known as an artist that created one of the most beautiful collaborations in Slovenian music. After more than 15 years of singing, 9 studio albums and more than 20 hits, he decided to record 25 of his most beautiful songs in collaboration with Symphony orchestra. Standing side by side with one of the most beautiful tenor vocals of all times, has left Plestenjak almost speechless. ''I couldn't have imagined bigger honour and acknowledgment as an artist,'' said Plestenjak and stressed that he is honestly grateful for opportunity to perform as a special guest on Carreras's farewell performance.
GUEST: MARTINA ZADRO
Soprano Martina Zadro, a principal of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana), is one of the leading Croato-Slovenian opera artists. Zadro is believed to be a complete theatre personality and sophisticated opera singer, who is internationally known by her highly professional theatre and concert achievements that brought her many awards. She has been performing numerous leading roles from our theatre's opera repertoire since 2003 and has been often appearing on concert stages with some finest symphony orchestras. She has so far performed under many renowned conductors and with many prestigous opera singers. She has recently performed with the famous tenor Jose Carreras, joining his farewell tour concerts all over Europe. ''It was my pleasure and a great honour to perform by such a great artist. I was very happy that we got along almost immediately and I was even happier because we had a great energy together,'' told Zadro. They will perform once again – this time on one of the biggest stages in Slovenia, on stage in Arena Stožice, where Carreras will perform for the last time in his career, on March, 10. ''He is a great person and a big legend. To hear his beautiful tenor vocal in person for the last time … this is an experience of a lifetime and I believe that audience will remember it for a long, long time,'' told Zadro, who is thrilled to perform as a guest on gala opera spectacle that will take place in Slovenia.
